List of States & Provinces where you need a license to sell Legal Shield plans

Legal Shield LogoI wanted to write this article awhile ago, but got busy with other things. It’s sometimes is discouraging to know that you can’t simply sell Legal Shield (formerly known as Pre-Paid Legal) plans in any state or province that you want. This isn’t entirely Legal Shield’s fault, but it’s the individual states that decided to charge a tax in order to fill their own pockets fault.

Anyway, here are a couple lists of Provinces in Canada and States in the United States that require you have a license to sell Legal plans. Some of them require a test and fee, others just a fee and the fee is usually and annual fee if you know what I mean.

**Note that some of the provinces in Canada simply don’t allow Legal Shield plans to be sold there with a license or without.
